Summary & background
RocketPhone is a unified communications platform built tightly around Salesforce: voice, cellular and video in one place, with call transcription and real-time agent assistance layered on top. The customers are mostly sales teams, customer service departments and financial services firms, in the UK and further afield.
My place in the company
As Head of Telephony Engineering, I architected and implemented a full SIP carrier infrastructure from the ground up, building it with failover redundancy, round-robin load balancing and Least-Cost Routing (LCR). A significant portion of my role involves managing carrier relationships and ensuring interoperability between our platform and upstream providers.
Launched RocketCell, a UK Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) backed by EE's network infrastructure, providing mobile connectivity that integrates directly with the RocketPhone platform.
I developed a fully cloud-scalable PBX solution built on modern cloud-native architecture spanning GCP and Hetzner Cloud. This platform is designed for horizontal scaling to meet customer demand as the business grows.
Additionally, I developed a WebRTC-based softphone with JWT authentication compliant with RFC 7519, enabling secure, browser-based communications for our customers. This project is open-source: simple-sip-socket-softphone.
