You might have heard of this company; has its roots in Cupertino, CA :) — working for the retail arm of this consumer electronics giant taught me a lot about customer service, sales and how to talk about technology without losing people. Met a load of great people along the way.
My place in the company
The Specialist role was very much "does what it says on the tin". Knowledge was a consistent companion — making product recommendations, advising on resolutions to issues that customers might be having.
Due to my background in network infrastructure and low-level software/hardware inter-workings, I was a "go-to" on a team of other highly proficient colleagues.
The day-to-day involved the sale of goods and services, but also general advice and information on product offerings.
